Leinen’s 17 kills lead HCHS past Clarinda in four

 CLARINDA (Oct. 10) -- Macie Leinen spiked 17 kills with a .343 efficiency on Thursday night to lead the Harlan Community volleyball team to a 3-1 road win at Clarinda. The Cyclones prevailed 25-16, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19, improving to 10-17 overall and 4-5 in the Hawkeye Ten. Clarinda dropped to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in the H-10.
 Lauren Andersen also had a big game at the net for HCHS with 10 kills and a .421 efficiency. Elise Juhl added seven kills, followed by Zophi Hendricks with six, Haley Manz four and Claire Schmitz two.
 HCHS served 77-for-89 as a team with six aces. Hendricks (14-for-18) had three aces while Ashley Hall (16-for-20), Dani Arkfeld (12-for-13) and Leinen (7-for-8) added one ace each. Manz set 43 of the team’s 47 assists and Hall led the way with 28 digs, followed by Hendricks (22), Manz (10), Leinen (9) and Juhl (8).
HCHS 0-5 at Western Christian
 The Cyclones finished with an 0-5 match record at the Western Christian Tournament Saturday, losing 2-1 decisions vs. Central Lyon, Sioux City East and Des Moines Christian and being swept 2-0 by Dakota Valley and Western Christian.
