Nelson scores 28 as Exira-EHK boys top Wolves

 ELK HORN (Dec. 14) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton boys basketball team steadily built a 34-22 halftime lead and knocked down 20-of-27 free throws last Saturday in a 65-51 non-conference win over IKM-Manning.
 The Spartans (2-3 overall) were led by senior Creighton Nelson’s 28-point outing. Nelson made 9-of-13 field goals and shot 10-of-15 at the free throw line while also grabbing eight rebounds.
 Tyler Petersen hit 3-of-5 three-pointers and posted a solid line with 16 points, eight boards and seven assists, Easton Nelson tallied 10 points and five rebounds and Hunter Andersen hit two treys and finished with nine points and five rebounds.
 IKM-Manning (2-4) did force 13 Spartan turnovers but did not shoot well enough to keep the game close. Parker Behrens was the exception, making 7-of-10 shots and leading the Wolves with 17 points before fouling out. Six other IKM-Manning players scored, led by Nolan Ramsey with eight points, Colby Keller seven and Kyler Rasmussen and Connor Keller with six apiece.
