Nelson scores five TDs in Spartan win
MONDAMIN (Oct. 4) -- Creighton Nelson rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns and also caught a TD pass last Friday night as the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football team got back to .500 with a 50-14 victory at West Harrison.
The Spartans improved to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in 8-Man, District 8, good for fourth place in the standings. West Harrison dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in district play.
Exira-EHK quarterback Tyler Petersen completed just 4-of-14 passes against the Hawkeyes but made the most of his connections with 116 yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Marxen was the top receiving target, catching three passes for 97 yards, including a 37-yard TD.
Defensively, the Spartans forced four turnovers as Hunter Andersen picked off a pass and Ev Carroll, Wyatt Fahn and Nelson all recovered fumbles.
Carson Anderson was the team’s top tackler with five solos and five assists while Marxen had four solos and six assists.
