Opening night a success at Shelby County Speedway

Saturday night at the Shelby County Speedway, the racing season got underway as hundreds of fans came down to watch races take place.

“Every person that I got feedback from, which happens to be a lot of drivers, they were all very excited about the track, they love the pit area,” said Race Director Doug Batz.

Batz did emphasize that while the night went well, there are many things to work on as the season progresses.

“We got to get our pits completed,” he said. “We got to get our scoreboard up.”

The next racing event will be back at the Pizza Ranch – James Buwulda Memorial June 11. Batz went on to talk about events beyond this weekend that will be coming up.

“We will have the following Wednesday, I believe the Midwest Madness Tour is coming in town. August 20, we have Military First Responders night, that’s when the helicopters coming back,” he said of upcoming events.
