Ring earns one win in state meet return

DES MOINES -- It wasn’t the exact ending he wanted, but Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton senior Lane Ring was happy to at least wrestle his final high school match inside Wells Fargo Arena.
Making his second state meet appearance, Ring finished in the top 12 of the Class 1-A, 195-pound bracket Thursday and Friday, winning one out of three matches. He ended the season with a 48-13 record.
Last year, Ring went 29-11 and made the state tournament as an alternate after another qualifier from his district dropped out due to injury. He finished 0-2 in Des Moines then, making this year’s return trip much more satisfying.
