Schueman, Clay both earn two individual WIC golds

AHSTW standouts part of five combined wins in Treynor; IKM-M girls distance medley also places first

TREYNOR -- AHSTW standouts Jaycie Schueman and Gage Clay both claimed two individual gold medals Tuesday night and were part of the school’s five total wins at the Western Iowa Conference Co-Ed Track Meet held in Treynor.
The girls and boys teams from IKM-Manning and AHSTW all placed in the lower half of the point standings but were able to combine for six event championships and score 51 times on a perfect night for competition.
Schueman’s final WIC Meet couldn’t have been much sweeter as she took home gold and clocked personal-best times in both of her signature events. The Lady Vike senior edged out Logan-Magnolia’s Kylan Straight by .14 of a second to win the 100-meter hurdles in 16.22, then beat Straight by two and a half seconds to win the 400 hurdles in 1:07.98.

Clay, a junior, also won two individual WIC golds, defending his titles in both the 100-meter dash (11.09) and the 200 (season-best 22.43) by holding off Treynor’s Brett Daley in each. The Drake Relays qualifier also teamed up with Sam Peterson, Jake Martin and Korbin Martin to give the Vikings a relay title in the 4x100 (season-best 45.59).

The sixth area gold medal came from the IKM-M girls distance medley relay, which finished three seconds ahead of Treynor with a season-best time of 4:33.53. Relay members included Kia Rasmussen, Gabby Cadwell, Payton Sporrer and Shyanne Sporrer.
