SCS hopes to open on June 6

 HARLAN (May 28) -- The Shelby County Speedway is likely to open its 2020 racing season on Saturday, June 6, following Tuesday’s announcement from Governor Kim Reynolds that Iowa race tracks may operate with grandstands at 50 percent capacity.
 Shelby County Speedway announced on its Facebook page Tuesday that it will be opening up for practice this Sunday (May 31) from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. All classes are welcome to practice and drivers are asked to follow social distancing guidelines. No one will be allowed in the grandstand area and there will not be concessions.
 In an earlier Facebook post on May 18, SCS noted that it was hopeful to hold its first night of racing on June 6. The season was originally scheduled to start April 17-18 but all races have been cancelled thus far due to COVID-19.
