Spartan softball rolls to 8-0

VAIL (June 24) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton softball team’s red-hot start continued earlier this week with a pair of Rolling Valley Conference road wins.
The Spartans routed Glidden-Ralston 11-1 in five innings Tuesday in a game that was postponed 24 hours due to rain, then shut out Ar-We-Va in Vail 8-0 on Wednesday behind Macy Emgarten’s 15-strikeout performance.
Exira-EHK is now 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the RVC.
A six-run fourth inning outburst keyed the Spartan victory at G-R. The top of the order did much of the damage as Shay Burmeister went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, Alisa Partridge was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored and Mollie Rasmussen was 2-for-3 with a double as well. Kami Waymire added a single and two RBI.
Emgarten held the Wildcats to three hits and one run, walking zero and striking out five. She was much more dominant against the Rockets on Wednesday, firing a four-hit shutout with one walk and 15 Ks.
Waymire and Quinn Grubbs both had three-hit games at Ar-We-Va while Rasmussen (2 RBI), Makenzie Riley and Partridge added two hits apiece.
