Two-mile relay gold lifts Spartan boys to third in RVC

Exira-EHK girls finish seventh

 WOODBINE -- A victory in the 4x800 relay highlighted Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton’s night as the Spartan boys placed third out of 10 teams in Monday’s Rolling Valley Conference Co-Ed Track Championships at Woodbine.
 Adding on eight other top-three finishes, the Spartans placed 18 times in 17 events overall and scored 81 points to trail only three-time boys champion Boyer Valley (121) and Woodbine (110).
 The Exira-EHK girls, meanwhile, placed in 11 events and scored 46 points to place seventh out of nine squads. Glidden-Ralston won the girls team title with 127 and Woodbine came in second with 104.
 The lone Sparty gold of the night was claimed by the boys 4x800 team of Evan Wilson, Tristan Caniglia, Noah Pettepier and Mason Rasmussen, who finished in 9:20.67. Wilson led off the relay not long after placing second in the 3,200-meter run and later took second in the 1,600 as well.
 The Spartan girls were able to place second in four events: Kealey Nelson in the 100 hurdles, Sydnee Young in the 200 dash, along with the 4x800 and distance medley relays.
