Wolves outlast Trojans 16-6 for third district win

 MANNING (Sept. 24) -- The IKM-Manning football team earned a key win toward possible playoff qualifying down the road here Friday night, scoring the final 10 points of its Homecoming game to defeat Tri-Center 16-6.
 The Wolves improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Class A, District 8. The Trojans are now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in district play.
 With the score knotted at 6-6, IKM-Manning senior Amos Rasmussen opened the fourth quarter with a 33-yard field goal to cap an 11-play, 57-yard drive into the red zone.
 The Wolves got the ball back at T-C’s 41 and scored seven plays later on Rasmussen’s three-yard TD run and PAT kick with 5:42 left in the game.
 Rasmussen also got IKM-Manning on the board in the second quarter with a 51-yard pick-six, returning an interception 51 yards.
 Tri-Center scored its only points late in the third, driving 95 yards in 13 plays. Michael Turner’s one-yard run briefly tied the game, but the extra point was blocked.
 IKM-Manning will play another important home game this week, hosting Logan-Magnolia (4-1, 3-1) on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
