Wolves, Spartans qualify five runners for 1-A State Meet

Exira-EHK’s Wilson places 2nd; Spartan girls nearly qualify as a team

 TREYNOR -- Five area cross country runners earned a state meet berth by placing in the top 15 of the Class 1-A State Qualifying Meet at Treynor, held October 22.
 The list includes four girls qualifiers and one boy who will now compete at the 2015 State Cross Country Meet this Saturday at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course north of Fort Dodge. The 1-A girls race will start at 2:00 p.m. and the boys race will be at 2:30.
 IKM-Manning sophomore Payton Sporrer, a girls state medalist last year and currently ranked 19th in 1-A, qualified by placing fifth at Treynor. Exira-EHK’s Emily Copic (a state qualifier last year) placed seventh while Rose Andersen of Exira-EHK and Shyanne Sporrer of IKM-M also qualified by placing 11th and 14th, respectively.
 In the boys half of the meet, Exira-EHK’s Evan Wilson placed second out of 142 runners at Treynor and also advanced to state. Wilson is ranked 11th in Class 1-A.
