Wolves tie for first place at Jim Yunek Coed Relays

On Thursday, the IKM-Manning girls track and field team competed in the Jim Yunek Coed Relays and tied for first place with Pocohontas.

“We were very happy with how the girls ran last night,” said Wolves Head Track and Field Coach Emma Konkler. “Emily Albertsen and Morgan Hanson set the tone for the night, both running great races in the 3000.”

Konkler also highlighted other individuals who stepped up in other events throughout the course of the competition.

“We were very pleased to see our Distance Medley team and 4x200 teams placing second,” she said. “Sofia Fernandez also took a second place finish in the open 200 running her personal record.”

The Wolves next meet will get underway Monday at 4 p.m. at the Boyer Valley Invite in which five schools will be competing.

“The team win was a little unexpected since there was some good competition at the meet, but it was exciting and gives us some confidence going into next week,” she added.
