Cyclone boys struggle offenseively and fall to conference foe Kuemper Catholic

CARROLL – The Harlan Community High School boys basketball team hit the road Tuesday night for its second game of the season, falling 81–45 to the Kuemper Catholic Knights (1–0 overall, 1–0 conference).
Kuemper came out firing, jumping to a 23–7 lead after the opening quarter.
The Knights continued their offensive surge in the second quarter, adding 29 more points to take a commanding 52–20 lead into halftime.
Harlan’s top scorers were limited, as Kobe Klaassen and Dallas McDowell were held to a combined 4-of-18 shooting and totaled just 11 points.
The Cyclones played their best offensive stretch in the third quarter, scoring 21 points while holding
Kuemper to 17, trimming the deficit to 69–41 heading into the fourth. However, the offense stalled again late, producing only four points in the final frame as the Knights pulled away for the decisive win.
Turnovers plagued the Cyclones all night, as they gave the ball away 20 times.
Gabe Arkfeld led Harlan with eight points. Colton Schneider made his season debut and impressed with seven points, two rebounds, three assists, and a block.
Kuemper was led by standout Dylan Schon, who finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks.
The Cyclones (1–1) will look to bounce back on Friday night when they host Denison-Schleswig (0–4, 0–2). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
