Harlan tennis boys drop matchup to Kuemper Catholic

It was a rough day for the Harlan boys tennis team with fierce winds affecting their performance as they dropped their matchup to Kuemper Catholic 9-0. Head coach Dillon Stane was still proud of their efforts despite a tough day on the courts.
“They played relatively well today,” Stane said. “There was a lot of competitive matches. It’s not going to reflect in the scorebook, but there was a lot of times they were going to deuce.”
Juniors Edgar Mena and Andrew Andersen. #1 doubles team, went to deuce quite a bit against Kuemper’s Samuel Janssen and Jared Hausman.
“In that one, all credit to Kuemper on that,” he said. “Those two really good players that were really playing aggressive out there. Our guys did our best to stay in toe-to-toe with them and they just came away with a loss today.”
With this matchup, the boys record falls to 0-2. Their next matchup will take place on Tuesday right back at home against the Glenwood Rams who are 4-1 on the season. Stane spoke on improvements he’d like to see moving forward in the week.
“The improvements I want to see is be a little more aggressive, be a little bit more tennis savvy, move around the court just a little bit better to put themselves in better positions, so they’re not constantly fighting themselves,” he added.
