Bieker, Klein combine for three conference track golds

 CLARINDA -- Jon Bieker earned a pair of conference titles and Marcus Klein continued a sensational senior season Thursday night as the Harlan Community boys placed fourth at the Hawkeye Ten Co-Ed Track Meet in Clarinda. Four girls and three boys won multiple individual events on the night, including Bieker’s gold-medal sweep of the shot put and discus. Klein earned gold in the 400-meter dash with an impressive personal-best time of 49.51, breaking 50 seconds for the first time to move atop the Class 3-A Quik Stats leader board. Klein also placed second in both the long jump and the 200-meter dash. The HCHS girls placed fifth overall, led by a 4x200 relay victory that featured a three-second improvement from its previous season-best. Freshman Chloe Hansen added a second-place effort in the 400 hurdles, clocking a new ‘PR’ of 1:08.13.
