Harlan to welcome RAGBRAI riders with live music lineup

HARLAN — As preparations continue for RAGBRAI’s arrival in Harlan, the Executive Committee Chair, in coordination with the Entertainment and Special Events Group, has finalized a lineup designed to provide engaging entertainment and a memorable experience for both riders and local residents.
Event organizers have selected three featured bands to entertain riders and visitors throughout the day following an extensive search that included input from local residents and regional talent.
The goal is to provide a diverse and high-quality musical experience that reflects the energy and spirit of the RAGBRAI celebration while showcasing talent from across the Midwest and beyond.
The entertainment lineup includes Jordan Beem, an acclaimed country artist recognized with multiple awards and nominations, including honors from the Iowa Music Awards and the Midwest Country Music Organization. Beem will perform on the main stage from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., bringing a dynamic country sound to the event.
Adding to the excitement is After Shock, a high-energy 80s rock cover band known for delivering a nostalgic, party-driven performance. The band’s setlist features classic hits from legendary artists such as AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, KISS, Mötley Crüe, and Guns N’ Roses, promising an engaging experience for fans of all ages. After Shock will perform on the main stage from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Also performing is Decoy, a Des Moines-based cover band known for blending rock, pop, alternative, and country into a versatile and crowd-pleasing show. With a strong following and experience performing alongside nationally recognized acts, Decoy brings a dynamic and polished stage presence. Decoy will perform on the main stage from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Organizers say they are excited to host RAGBRAI participants and the community, offering a memorable day filled with music, entertainment, and celebration in Harlan.
Gervas Mgonja, City Administrator, stated that the live music lineup will help create a great atmosphere and provide entertainment for cyclists and local citizens. He added that the event is intended to be both memorable and supportive of local businesses by encouraging visitors to explore downtown and other local establishments.
