Seventh grade Mock Trial team competes in State competition

ALTOONA — The 42nd annual Iowa Middle School Mock Trial Competition was held December 1-3 in Altoona. Thirty-two schools of all sizes from across the state competed against one another with Regis Catholic Middle School of Cedar Rapids being crowned the 2025 State Champion.
The HCMS 7th grade team finished the State Mock Trial Competition with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. The HCMS team beat the 8th grade team from Southview MS in Ankeny and Taft MS from Cedar Rapids. Unfortunately, they lost a close match in round one to another Southview MS team from Ankeny which put HCMS out of trophy contention.
HCMS competed well against much larger schools, and Truman Kjergaard was one of 15 witnesses receiving All-State Witness recognition.
