Cyclone Pride 10U team recognized

 HARLAN -- The Cyclone Pride 10U softball team was a special guest at H. Jack Field onThursday night (June 17) prior to the Harlan Community varsity squad’s game against Kuemper Catholic. Cyclone Pride team members were recognized during pregame activities and joined the high school squad for the introduction of the starting lineups as well as the national anthem.

IKM-M beats Riverside

 OAKLAND (June 17) -- IKM-Manning completed a season sweep of Riverside in WIC baseball action Thursday, building an early 5-0 lead and holding off the Bulldogs 8-5 to notch its third conference victory. The Wolves’ 13-hit attack included two hits each by Brody Blom, Max Nielsen, Conner Richards, Cooper Perdew and Kaiden Barry.

Eagles top Vikings 15-3

 UNDERWOOD (June 17) -- Freshman Jack Vanfossan went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored Thursday night to lead the Underwood baseball team past AHSTW 15-3 in five. The Eagles improved to 14-1 overall, hitting 10 singles and a double and taking advantage of seven Viking errors.

 HARLAN (June 17) -- Harlan Community won its fifth consecutive Hawkeye Ten softball game on Thursday night, holding off a determined Kuemper Catholic squad 5-3 at H.

Panther softball team downs IKM-Manning

 IRWIN (June 18) -- The Logan-Magnolia softball team scored two runs in the top of the first inning and continued to chip away here Friday, beating IKM-Manning 13-1 in five. The Wolves, who dropped to 0-13 on the year, finished with just two hits as Alexis Gruhn and Zoey Melton both ripped hard-hit doubles in the third inning. Freshman Ella Richards took the loss, allowing 11 hits but just two earned runs in five innings.

Lady Vikes rout Treynor

 AVOCA (June 15) -- Kailey Jones pitched a complete game six-hitter and Natalie Hagadon led the offense with five RBI as the AHSTW softball team handled Treynor 10-1 last Tuesday night in Avoca. Jones allowed just one Cardinal run on the night, issued no walks and struck out six. Hagadon finished 2-for-4 with a triple at the plate, scoring twice and driving in five.

Brouse tosses one-hitter as Cyclones blank Panthers 1-0

 LOGAN (June 16) -- Harlan Community senior Emily Brouse outdueled Logan-Magnolia freshman Abby Hiatt Wednesday night as the Cyclones scored the game’s only run in the sixth inning to edge the Panthers 1-0. Brouse pitched a one-hit shutout, walked two and struck out 12 while Hiatt pitched a three-hitter for Lo-Ma, walked one and struck out four.

HCHS baseball team avenges Monarchs by the rule

 KIMBALLTON (June 14) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton softball team picked up a 5-1 non-conference home win over Nodaway Valley on Monday, improving to 15-3 overall. Junior Macy Emgarten pitched all seven innings on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out 11.

 AVOCA (June 14) -- The AHSTW baseball team won 12-2 Monday night at Riverside in five innings and lost by the same score at home to Treynor Tuesday night in six. The Vikings seized command of the Riverside game by scoring four runs in the third, five in the fourth and three in the fifth, outhitting the Bulldogs 12-3. Nick Denning had three hits and scored three runs to lead the offense.

Cyclone pitchers fan 25 in softball sweep

 GLENWOOD (June 14) -- Harlan Community softball pitchers Tianna Kasperbauer and Emily Brouse stole the show in Monday’s doubleheader sweep at Glenwood, striking out a combined 25 batters and allowing no earned runs as the Cyclones handled the Rams 10-0 and 7-1. Kasperbauer (5-1) pitched a three-hit shutout in game one, racking up 15 strikeouts and walking none.

Rams sweep HCHS in hard-fought twin bill

 GLENWOOD (June 14) -- Harlan Community was swept by Glenwood in a Hawkeye Ten baseball doubleheader on Monday night, losing 3-1 in game one and 7-6 in game two on a walkoff two-run single by Ram freshman Kayden Anderson. Glenwood improved to 6-6 overall and 5-5 in conference play and went over .500 the next night vs. Creston.
