ADEL -- Harlan Community QB Teagon Kasperbauer set two single-game school records Friday night with 432 passing yards and 7 TD passes in the Cyclones' 58-30 win at ADM. Joey Moser, Connor Frame & Aidan Hall all surpassed 100 yards receiving as No. 1 HCHS improved to 7-0. Frame led the way with three TD receptions and also picked up an ADM onside kick and returned it 49 yards to the house.

    HARLAN – Myrtue Medical Center is moving ahead with a construction project that will see remodeling of the cafeteria area and a new gift shop.    Plans call for equipment modernization, a new grill, fryer and new exhaust finishes in the kitchen, new equipment, finishes and traffic flow in the serving area, and new finishes and seating for 34 in the dining area.    The gift shop will be moved from its current location near the cafeteria to

    HARLAN – The Harlan Municipal Utilities has approved its annual audit report, as provided by Gronewold, Bell, Kyhnn & Co, CPAs, Atlantic.    Auditors reported the electric fund revenues (including non-operating) totaled $7,565,900 for the year ended June 30, 2021, a 3.3 percent increase from 2020.    The revenues included $6,689,300 in sales to consumers and other operating revenue, $817,000 in sales to MISO and $59,600 in investment i

HARLAN – Brothers Stetson and Oakley Thurman were named year-end champions in their respective categories of the TMRA (Tuff-N-Nuff Miniature Rodeo Association) bull riding association following finals competition in Adel last month.    Oakley, 4, and Stetson, 6, the sons of Chris and Lacey Thurman, Harlan, competed well at the event, taking home some top honors and cementing their status among the best riding competitors of their age.    Dad C

    COUNTY – The Shelby County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, Sept. 28 signed a letter of intent with ISG Engineering, Des Moines, to perform inspection services related to a proposed Midwest Carbon Express pipeline project.    A representative with ISG, Evan Del Val, will be on hand to visit with landowners at a public meeting at noon Wednesday, Oct.
