The Cyclones carousel keeps on turning

With a combination of timely plays and stellar defense, the HCHS Cyclone football team took care of business Friday night on the road against the Atlantic Trojans with a 41-16 victory, winning its third consecutive game and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Wolves take 3 of 4 in consolation tournament; Vikings win one

Tuesday at Missouri Valley High School, the IKM-Manning Wolves took three of four wins beating Audubon and AHSTW 2-1, Logan-Magnolia 2-0, then losing their final match of the night to Missouri Valley 2-1.
“I thought they did a good job overall tonight,” said Wolves Head Coach McKaylie Croghan. “We had two girls run cross country last night on top of playing. I was really proud of their efforts.”

HCHS Heslink medals for boys; Multiple girls medal at Hawk-10 Meet

Sophomore Cyclone Erik Heslink was the only boy who medaled for HCHS finishing 10th overall with a time of 17:34.78 at the Hawkeye Ten Meet in Carroll, while multiple girls medaled for the Cyclones including Aspen Bieker in 20th with 21:30.02, Allie Anderson in 18th 21:15.96, Brylee Schechinger in 13th with 20:45.29, Ashlyn Rau in 5th with 19:52.49, and Lindsey Sonderman in 2nd with 18:17.91.

Cyclones face rival Trojans Friday on the road

After last week’s 24-21 must-win victory over the Nevada Cubs, the HCHS Cyclones football team has another task in front of them Friday night on the road against the Atlantic Trojans.

Spartans 7-game win streak snapped by Trojans

Monday was a rough night for the Exira-EHK Spartans volleyball team as they were swept by the Atlantic Trojans Monday night with scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-7.
“We haven't been playing sharp for about four matches now and we have work to do,” said Spartan Head Coach Derek Reischauer. “We will have a good week of practice and get back in sync with each other.”

Wolves & Vikings compete at WIC meet

The IKM-Manning Wolves and AHSTW Vikings put on a strong performance at the Western Iowa Conference meet held at Quail Run Golf Course in Neola Monday with the Wolves finishing fourth on both the boys and girls side. The Vikings girls took a fifth place finish overall.

In set three of Thursday’s home volleyball match, Sophomore Spartan Taryn Petersen came up with a kill which landed just out of the reach of Senior Hawkeye Tylar Stirtz giving the Spartans a 25-18 set victory and their 12th victory of the season.

Wolves & Spartans compete at Boyer Valley Meet

The IKM-Manning Wolves and Exira-EHK Spartans performed strong at the Boyer Valley cross country meet Thursday where the Wolves girls non-scoring finished second overall with 32 points and the boys non-scoring finished in a first place tie with Missouri Valley with 28 points.

Cyclone girls finish 3rd at Trojan Invitational; boys take 15th

Thursday, the HCHS Cyclones cross country team faced an uphill battle with the girls finishing third overall with 107 points, 47 behind the winner, Lincoln Pius X. The boys finished 15th with 320 points.

Harris steps down as AHSTW football coach

AHSTW Vikings current head football coach G.G. Harris has stepped down, effective immediately.
In a text message, Harris said, "In the best interest of the team and for everyone to move forward, I have made the decision to step down as head football coach. Sometimes it’s more than just wins and losses. Sometimes it’s more than just about football. At this moment, it’s one of those times.”

Cyclones host Cubs in Friday showdown

After taking care of business with a dominant 49-7 in their most recent Friday against the Perry Bluejays, the HCHS Cyclones football team faces a big test at home with the 5-1 Nevada Cubs coming to town.

Wolves struggle against #2 ranked Bulldogs

The IKM-Manning Wolves volleyball faced an uphill battle Tuesday night against the #2 ranked 24-3 Riverside Bulldogs, losing three straight sets (25-16, 25-15, and 25-19).
“We played good, we kept with them, but we can’t get in our little slumps as much as we do,” said Sophomore Ella Langel. “We need to work on our confidence a lot more.”

Rasmussen takes 3rd at Woodbine meet; Wilson finishes 5th

Two Exira-EHK Spartan cross country runners, Junior Austin Rasmussen and Sophomore Michelle Wilson continue to set the tone for their teams, most recently at the Woodbine Invitational Monday afternoon.
Rasmussen took third place with a time of 18:18.00, finishing less than a minute behind the overall winner, Gunner Wagner of Woodbine, whose time was 17:39.15.

Cyclones earn big victory over Bluejays

Senior Cyclone Lukas Francis had a big night for his team coming away with 179 rushing yards and scoring five touchdowns in a must win 49-7 victory for the HCHS Cyclones over the Perry Bluejays improving their record to 3-3 on the season.

Cyclones defeat Trojans on Senior Night

For the first time since Sept. 9, the HCHS volleyball team is back in the win column snapping a 9-game losing streak beating the Atlantic Trojans Thursday night in three straight sets, after dropping set one.
