IKM-Manning Senior Caden Keller made Wolves history in track and field at the Bob Clark Relays April 25 breaking the school record in the 3200 by almost 18 seconds with a time of 9:46.78.

The HCHS boys varsity golf team took first place with 316 strokes beating out Kuemper Catholic by one, Denison by three and Atlantic by four in the Hawkeye-10 Tournament Thursday.

The IKM-Manning girls track and field team competed at the WIC Championships at Underwood, taking a 5th place finish with 63 points, seven ahead of Tri-Center.
“Our conference has a lot of very competitive 1A and 2A schools, so we were happy to see our relays compete and run PR's as well as some of our individuals,” said Wolves Head Coach Emma Konkler-Petersen. 

The HCHS girls track and field team came out and competed well at the Bruce Henderson Invite in Atlantic, taking third place with 92.7 points, 10.5 ahead of Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln.

Monday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team competed in the Lewis Central Triangular against the Titans and Glenwood Rams.
The Cyclones won the tournament with 163, two ahead of Glenwood and four ahead of Lewis Central. Every Cyclone finished with less than 50 strokes on nine holes, including Jonas Reynolds who finished with 38, with birdies on holes 10, 12, and 15.

The HCHS girls varsity soccer team got a chance to play the East Sac County Raiders after their originally scheduled game was postponed, and despite weather conditions were able to come away with a 2-1 victory on goals from Kayla Anderson and Ivy Stevens.
Junior Raider Kenna Meyer got her team on the board early taking a 1-0 lead. The Raiders were able to hold that lead for a while.

The struggles continue for the HCHS boys varsity soccer team with its fourth consecutive loss Monday at Merrill Field against the Council Bluffs Lincoln Lynx, losing 7-0.

Cyclones Head Coach Sam Brummer said the HCHS boys track and field team represented well at the Drake Relays taking five Cyclones who qualified including, Wil Neuharth, Cade Sears, Jacob Birch, Matthew Sorfonden and Brehden Eggerss.

Tuesday, the HCHS girls track and field team competed at the Lady Red Relays with 95 points, finishing 4th overall.
Multiple Cyclones stood out at the meet including Lindsey Sonderman who finished 1st in the 3000 and 800 meter run events. In the 3000, she finished with 10:57.81, 13 seconds ahead of Denison’s Lola Mendlik.

With a few minutes left in double overtime, it looked like the HCHS boys varsity soccer team was headed for penalty kicks to determine the winner, but Sophomore Monarch Richard Gonzalez had other plans kicking the game winning goal, giving the Monarchs a 1-0 victory.
“It’s a very proud moment for those guys,” said Cyclones Head Coach Dave Voge. “They played their hearts out. It’s always close with Denison.”

Monday, the AHSTW boys track and field team competed at the Phil Hummel Relays taking a 4th place finish, tying with Riverside with 73 points, just four behind Missouri Valley.

AHSTW Senior Kyle Sternberg has committed to playing basketball at Buena Vista University, a private university in Storm Lake.
“It was an exciting day for sure,” Sternberg said. “I’ve always had a dream of playing college basketball ever since I was younger and finally making it official, it felt really good and I was just really proud of myself.”

The HCHS boys varsity golf team finished 7th with 349 strokes just three strokes behind Lewis Central and Atlantic who tied for 5th.
For the Cyclones, they were led by Jace Gubbels who finished 13th overall with 82 strokes, including a birdie on hole two, a par 4 and hole eight, a par 4. The winner was Grant Jansen out of ADM, finishing his day with 73 strokes.

Cyclone Sophomore Aubrey Schwieso scored two goals against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs en route to a 5-0 shutout victory for the Cyclones, winning their fourth consecutive game and 7th on the season.
“It was a good night for soccer,” said Cyclones Head Coach Jared Boysen. “We knew this was going to be a similar match up to our games last week and was a close matchup last year where we were able to win 3-2.”

With a limited roster at the Tiger Relays, Cyclones head coach Sam Brummer was pleased with the effort put forth by his team as they managed to tie for 3rd place with the Glenwood Rams with 63 points, just four behind Underwood who won the event.
