The AHSTW boys soccer team is gearing up for another season beginning with a scrimmage against the HCHS Cyclones March 24.

After going winless in their 2022 campaign, the AHSTW girls soccer team looks to bounce back starting with a scrimmage against the HCHS Cyclones March 24.
“Communicating, we have struggled with this in past years,” said Vikings Head Coach Beth Herbst. “Passing is going to be the second thing we have to be successful at in order to beat Harlan.”

Senior Tela Schwery has signed a Letter of Intent to be a cheerleader at Midland University, a private university in Fremont, Neb. following the conclusion of high school.
“I’m very excited to go cheer in college,” Schwery said. “It’s always been my dream to cheer with a great coach and a great team.”

HCHS Seniors Jacob Birch and Brad Curren have signed Letters of Intent to play sports at Central College, a private university in Pella, following the conclusion of their high school days.

Seniors Aidan Hall, Jacob Birch, Wil Neuharth and Junior Cade Sears made history Friday afternoon at the IATC Indoor Championships in Ames by setting a new record in the 4x1 relay event with a time of 43.40, by one second better than the old mark.

The HCHS girls golf team is gearing up for a new season set to begin March 30 against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs.
“We had a pretty good group last year and we’re looking to improve and get better,” said Cyclones Head Coach Todd Bladt. “Everybody’s a year older, a little bit more experienced. I think the girls are ready to get after it and get some shots.”

The HCHS boys golf team is looking to drive their season to success by teeing off on a good note starting April 4 against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs.

The Exira-EHK boys track and field team is gearing up and preparing for another season that’s right around the corner and they have a new assistant coach to help guide them. Cassidy Nerland was an All-American thrower at Grandview.

Last season was challenging for the Exira-EHK girls varsity team, but this year’s group is ready for the new season beginning in a few weeks.
“We are excited to get going,” said Spartans Head Coach Cory Bartz. “The girls are looking forward to continuing to improve from last season.”

The HCHS girls track and field will look for its upperclassmen to lead the way when it starts the season March 19 at the NWMSU Indoor event in Maryville, MO.
“We are very excited for the season,” said Cyclones Head Coach Jenny Hamilton. “We have a great group of upperclassmen who have really set a positive tone to get us started. They understand we like to have fun, but ultimately we are here to work hard, get better, and compete.”

The HCHS boys track and field team is focused on showing opponents just how good they are in its new season set to get underway March 10 at the IATC Indoor Championships at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center in Ames.

Exira-EHK Senior Shay Burmeister is a multi-sport athlete who has played golf, softball, volleyball and basketball for the Spartans during her high school career. Of the four sports, Burmeister gravitates to one more than the others.

The HCHS boys basketball team ran into the undefeated Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays Monday night in the Regional Final match at Waukee High School and gave them a run for their money, but the Bluejays won, 74-53.
“I told them I was very proud of them,” said Cyclones Head Coach Mitch Osborn. “We had a great year. They played hard and did everything we could’ve asked.”

Sophomore Ivy Stevens was the lone member of the HCHS varsity bowling team at the state bowling tournament and she showed well placing 14th out of 32.

ADEL – With the Des Moines Christian Lions trailing 8-6 at the end of the first quarter in the 2A-7 Championship game, they quickly turned the tables on the AHSTW Vikings starting the second quarter on a 12-0 run that secured a 47-36 victory.
