Experienced HCHS harriers ready to tackle state meet

 FORT DODGE (Oct. 30) -- The Harlan Community girls cross country team, along with senior Trey Gross, will make their way back to Fort Dodge on Friday for the Class 3A state meet at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. The HCHS girls run at 3:30 p.m., followed by Gross in the boys race at 4:00. “Everyone is healthy and very excited to get there to have their best race of the season,” said HCHS coach Doug Renkly.

The Carlisle football team is definitely peaking at the right time. The surging Wildcats (6-3) will travel to Merrill Field Friday night for a Class 3A third round playoff game against 2nd-ranked Harlan Community (8-0).

 GUTHRIE CENTER (Oct. 23) -- IKM-Manning senior Quentin Dreyer will be making a return trip to Fort Dodge following an impressive fourth-place showing at last Friday’s Class 1A State Qualifying Cross Country Meet at ACGC High School. The Wolves nearly punched a team ticket to the state meet as well, but finished seven points behind East Marshall for the second-place qualifying spot.

Lo-Ma ousts Wolves from football playoffs, 27-6

 LOGAN (Oct. 23) -- The Logan-Magnolia defense held IKM-Manning to 73 total yards and four first downs last Friday night, ending the Wolves’ season 27-6 in a Class A second round playoff football game. The sixth-ranked Panthers (7-1) advanced to the round of 16 and hosted Riverside (8-1) on October 30.

 TREYNOR (Oct. 21) -- AHSTW was competitive in the final two sets but couldn’t extend the match beyond three in Wednesday night’s Class 2A regional quarterfinal loss at Treynor. The Cardinals (16-9) prevailed in a sweep (25-16, 25-20, 25-23) and advanced to play at 9th-ranked Underwood (25-5) in a Region 3 semifinal.

2A Regional VB: Wolves fall to No. 5 East Sac County

 LAKE VIEW (Oct. 21) -- Two nights after opening Class 2A regional play with a win, the IKM-Manning volleyball team saw its season come to an end Wednesday against fifth-ranked and unbeaten East Sac County. The Raiders (22-0) swept the Wolves 25-9, 25-10, 25-11 in a Region 4 quarterfinal match. IKM-Manning finished 3-21 on the year. East Sac County had an outstanding kill efficiency of .439 and also served 11 aces.
