The IKM-Manning Wolves volleyball team faced a tough challenge with the Woodbury Central Wildcats on the road Monday in the Class 1A Region 7 First Round Regional Game, but got the job done winning 25-22, 26-24, and 25-18.

The AHSTW Vikings volleyball team were swept by the Underwood Eagles (25-8, 25-19, 25-6) in the Class 2A Region 2 Game, ending their season Monday.
“It's always disappointing to lose and have your season end,” said Viking Head Coach Kelsey Fraher. “I just told them to keep their heads held high, and that despite our record, we had a lot of positive things happen this season.”

The Exira-EHK Spartans volleyball team is moving on to the Class 1A Region 8 Quarterfinals after a clean sweep of the CAM Cougars Monday night winning (25-23, 25-23, and 25-21).
“Oh my gosh, it feels amazing, and I wouldn’t want to do it with any other team,” said Spartan Senior Mayne Jorgensen. “All of our hard work is paying off, and it feels really good.”

HARLAN — The movement toward an electrified America quickly gained momentum in the 1880’s as research and inventions harnessed the natural power of electricity. Electric lighting was becoming common in urban areas across the country. By the end of the decade, it was abundantly clear electric power was the next step necessary in the development of commerce and modern conveniences.

With a combination of timely plays and stellar defense, the HCHS Cyclone football team took care of business Friday night on the road against the Atlantic Trojans with a 41-16 victory, winning its third consecutive game and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Tuesday at Missouri Valley High School, the IKM-Manning Wolves took three of four wins beating Audubon and AHSTW 2-1, Logan-Magnolia 2-0, then losing their final match of the night to Missouri Valley 2-1.
“I thought they did a good job overall tonight,” said Wolves Head Coach McKaylie Croghan. “We had two girls run cross country last night on top of playing. I was really proud of their efforts.”

Sophomore Cyclone Erik Heslink was the only boy who medaled for HCHS finishing 10th overall with a time of 17:34.78 at the Hawkeye Ten Meet in Carroll, while multiple girls medaled for the Cyclones including Aspen Bieker in 20th with 21:30.02, Allie Anderson in 18th 21:15.96, Brylee Schechinger in 13th with 20:45.29, Ashlyn Rau in 5th with 19:52.49, and Lindsey Sonderman in 2nd with 18:17.91.
