The HCHS varsity softball team went into Council Bluffs Lincoln Wednesday night hoping to extend their win streak to four games, however the Lynx put a stop to that and won, 7-4.
Junior Jenna Gessert got the ball for the Cyclones and pitched six innings while striking out seven. Despite suffering the loss, her coach spoke on improvements she sees from Gessert.

The HCHS varsity baseball team was looking for redemption against the Lewis Central Titans after they beat them on their field June 1st, but unfortunately came up short as they lost a close game, 2-1.

Tuesday on the road against the Lewis Central Titans, HCHS senior Tianna Kasperbauer got the ball, pitched a complete game, striking out seven and giving up just one run on seven hits on the way to a 4-1 victory.
“Tianna was able to keep them guessing last night with her change up,” said HCHS Head Softball Coach Toshia Kasperbauer. “They did get a couple big hits off a changeup, but Tianna was able to work out of the inning.”

For the first time this season, the HCHS varsity softball team is above .500 after two victories Monday night against the Red Oak Tigers. They won the first game 16-6 and took the second game, 18-3.

Coming into a doubleheader against the Red Oak Tigers, The HCHS varsity baseball team was riding a four game win streak and that didn’t change as they outscored the Tigers 35-3 between both games.
Senior Alex Monson got the ball for the Cyclones in game one and pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed en route to a complete game shutout as they won, 14-0.

The Exira-EHK Spartans were hoping to snap their losing streak going into Monday’s game, but failed to do so as Woodbine Tigers senior Cory Bantam had 19 strikeouts en route to a complete game shutout, 6-0.
Junior Trey Petersen got the ball for the Spartans and pitched 5.2 innings while surrendering a 3-run home run off the bat of Bantam.

Friday night, the Underwood Eagles came into town to play the AHSTW Vikings who were riding a seven game win streak, but the Eagles quickly put a stop to that as they won via the mercy rule, 19-5.
Freshman Sienna Christian got the ball to start the night for the Vikings, but only lasted 1.2 innings.

The HCHS varsity softball team went on the road to take on the Kuemper Catholic Knights, but came up short 7-3.
“We have our nights,” said HCHS Head Softball Coach Toshia Kasperbauer. “One night we can look really good offensively and then the next night we struggle. We have to get more inconsistent, especially when we have runners on base.”

Thursday night, the HCHS varsity baseball team took on the Kuemper Catholic Knights and soundly defeated them, 16-5. This marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Cyclones.
Sophomore Braydon Ernst got the ball as he pitched six innings and struck out three batters.

The IKM-Manning varsity softball team played the Tri-Center Trojans at home Tuesday night and won 9-7 for their second win of the season against seven losses.
Sophomore Ella Richards got the ball and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.
“Ella did a nice job,” said Wolves Head Softball Coach Joy Gross. “She struggled a bit at the end, but I was proud of how she kept her composure.”

The HCHS varsity baseball team battled the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs on their home turf and defeated them in extra innings, 8-4.
The Cyclones bats were hot as they collected 14 hits throughout the night, including eight different players on the roster who had at least one hit.

For the second game in a row, the HCHS varsity softball team came out swinging some hot bats as they cruised to another 9-8 victory, but this time over the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs.
Senior Tianna Kasperbauer got the ball to start the game for the Cyclones, gave up six runs in the first inning, but then settled in after that.

The HCHS varsity softball team took on the Glenwood Rams in a doubleheader on their home turf and split the series with them, dropping the first game 5-0, but coming back to win the second game 9-8.
In game one, freshman pitcher Allison Koontz of the Rams pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out four Cyclone batters.

Coming into the game, the HCHS varsity baseball team was riding a 3-game losing streak, but that changed when junior outfielder Stephen Leinen launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and put his team ahead for good in game one of a doubleheader as the Cyclones cruised to a 7-3 victory over the Glenwood Rams.

It was a rough weekend for the HCHS varsity baseball team as they got shutout twice losing 1-0 to the Sergeant Bluff-Laton Warriors and losing 3-0 to the Carlisle Wildcats.
In the first game, the Cyclones were unable to get on base via a hit, but sophomore outfielder Cade Sears got on board with a walk. Senior Aidan Sieperda of the Warriors pitched a complete game shutout and struck out seven Cyclone batters.
