SHELBY -- Patricia Rose Jensen, 86, Shelby, a lifelong Avoca/Shelby resident, died November 23 at her home.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca with burial in the Shelby Cemetery.  A rosary will be held Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Dave Wager, 58

Applications for housing rehab accepted

    HARLAN – The City of Harlan is applying for grant funds to assist local homeowners in fixing up their homes.    The Iowa Economic Development Authority offers a community development block grant (CDBG) program for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation.    If approved, the city would be able to receive funding to rehabilitate approximately 8-10 homes.  The maximum funding for actual rehabilitation costs is $24,999 for each home.  Individual
