HARLAN -- Jerry Howard Davis, 60, Harlan, died September 15 at Creighton University Medical Center.    Services will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

    GLENWOOD -- Steven Craig Larsen, 85, Glenwood, died September 14 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.    Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Saturday from 10-11 a.m.

    MANILLA -- Kenneth Eugene Brundige, 86, Manilla, died September 14 at the Manilla Manor.    Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Irwin.  Visitation is Monday, Sept. 21 from 5-9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

    EARLING -- Donna Lou Kester, 84, Earling, died September 13 at the Little Flower Haven Nursing Home in Earling.    Private graveside services were held Thursday, Sept.

    HARLAN -- Ethel Eleanor Heller, 87, Harlan, formerly of Portsmouth, died September 13 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan.    Services will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Portsmouth.  A rosary was held Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

    HARLAN --  The counselors in the Harlan Community School District understand how important it is for a student to feel welcomed at school.    “Kids who feel loved at home come to school to learn,” said Leanne Travis. “Kids who may not feel loved at home come to school to feel loved.

HARLAN -- U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) held a town hall meeting in Harlan Monday, Sept. 14, meeting with constituents and discussing federal topics, including everything from immigration and energy policy to the Iran deal and monetary appropriations.    Only a handful of individuals turned out for the event, held at the Pizza Ranch.
