HARLAN -- Harlan Community senior Hunter Manz signed a national letter of intent on March 28 to join the men’s basketball program at Morningside College in Sioux City. Manz was projected to be the Cyclones’ starting point guard as a senior but was unable to play during the 2018-19 season while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL. He also played football and soccer during his HCHS career.

 CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- Freshmen Keaton Jones, Lucas Schmitz, Bailey Schmitz and Devin Wilson - all 2018 Harlan Community graduates - helped the Iowa Western Community College men’s bowling team to a top-10 national finish in the program’s inaugural season this past winter. The Reivers placed sixth with 11,963 total pins at the 2019 NJCAA National Bowling Tournament, held March 1-2 at Airport Lanes near Buffalo, New York.

 AVOCA (May 3) -- Overcoming some early adversity in the form of a 1-0 deficit and an injury to their leading goal scorer, the AHSTW boys soccer team built a 2-1 halftime lead and added three more second-half scores to down Treynor 5-1 on Friday night. The eighth-ranked (Class 1A) Vikings beat Treynor for the second time in a week and improved to 11-0 overall.
