 AUDUBON (March 28) -- For the AHSTW girls track team, an impressive outdoor opener was marred by an injury to its top sprinter at Thursday’s Audubon Early Bird Meet. Official team scores were not posted, but the Lady Vikes placed 15 times in 14 events to tally 90 points, trailing only Denison’s 121 and Treynor’s 101.

Rasmussen 100 school record among nine early-bird golds for IKM-Manning

 LAKE CITY (March 28) -- The IKM-Manning track teams won a combined nine gold medals and set two school records at the Chelsey Henkenius Co-Ed Early Bird Meet held Thursday at Lake City. The IKM-M boys won four events on the night, including a new school record of 11.19 seconds (11.43 FAT) run by freshman Amos Rasmussen in the 100-meter dash.

 HARLAN (March 26) -- The Harlan Community boys tennis team was unable to win a match in Tuesday’s season opener vs. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, losing 9-0 on the Harlan courts. The closest varsity battle of the day came at number four singles, where HCHS senior Jack Buman lost an 8-10 decision to AL’s Carter James.

Cyclone track teams win outdoor opener at Carroll

 CARROLL (March 21) -- The Harlan Community track teams won a combined 23 events on Thursday, both placing first at the Carroll Co-Ed Early Bird Invite in the first outdoor meet of the season. The HCHS girls won 10 of 18 events - the discus was not held - and scored 110 points to finish well ahead of Boone (47), Carroll (46) and Kuemper Catholic (44).

Special Olympics athletes excel at Mid-Winter Tournament

 IOWA CITY -- The Harlan Community Schools had 24 Special Olympics athletes compete last weekend (March 15-16) at the State Mid-Winter Tournament in Iowa City. On Friday evening, the Harlan group attended the opening ceremonies, a dinner banquet and a luau dance to welcome the teams.

Area athletes win four events at BVU indoor meet
