 CARROLL -- A balanced, quality field awaits the Harlan Community boys basketball team as it prepares to compete as the number five seed in Class 3A, Substate 8. The Cyclones, 10-7 overall entering their final two regular season games, will open postseason play Monday night (Feb. 18) in Carroll, facing fourth-seeded Winterset (13-6) at 6:30 p.m.

 ELK HORN (Feb. 13) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton girls basketball team defeated Glidden-Ralston 61-51 in a Class 1A, Region 8 quarterfinal game Wednesday night in Elk Horn. The Spartans improved to 17-5 overall and will now play at 14th-ranked Westwood (18-4) in a 7:00 p.m. regional semifinal Friday night (Feb. 15).

 COUNCIL BLUFFS (Feb. 8) -- The Harlan Community girls basketball team wrapped up regular-season play with a Hawkeye Ten split late last week, beating Atlantic 56-51 in Harlan February 7 and losing at Lewis Central 55-39 on Friday, February 8.
