Reisz signs LOI at South Dakota State for football

HCHS Senior Jozef Reisz has signed a football Letter of Intent at South Dakota State University.
“It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid,” he said. “Everyone can say that, but growing up I always knew I wanted to play college football at a high level and my dreams are coming true. I just need to follow through, keep working hard, and everything will fall in line.”

Fink collects 100th career win at Hawkeye Ten Meet

Cyclone wrestlers Nathan Sandquist, Spencer Fink, Jesse Jens, Coy Obrecht, Brody McKinley, Chayton Snethen, Jaden Stephens and Brody Bendorf picked up victories at Saturday’s Hawkeye Ten wrestling meet in Denison.
“I think we competed well,” Fink said. “The team is really pushing in practice right now with districts in two weeks.”

Spartans defeat Rockets on Senior Night

Coming off a big 62-32 victory over West Harrison, the Exira-EHK Spartans boys basketball team brought that momentum into Tuesday’s home game against the Paton-Churdan Rockets, defeating them 71-45.
“I think we’re playing very good basketball right now,” said Spartan Senior Josh Nelson. “We’re limiting the turnovers, playing good defense, and just shooting the ball well.”

After a tough Monday night 56-44 home loss to the Atlantic Trojans, which snapped an 8-game winning streak, the Exira-EHK Spartans returned to a win 24 hours later with a Tuesday night 59-17 home win over the Paton-Churdan Rockets.

Schwery signs LOI at Midland for football

HCHS Senior Nolan Schwery has signed a football Letter of Intent at Midland University.
“I’m just really excited and ready to start playing football again,” he said.
During the signing at Midland, Schwery’s mom and dad, Joi and Paul, were in attendance, along with his older sister, Tela.

Cyclones fall to Huskies at home

Coming off a tough 2-point loss Friday night, the HCHS Cyclones boys basketball team was hoping to return to the win column Monday night at home against the Winterset Huskies, but came out flat, losing 60-48.

Cyclones drop nail biter to Panthers

With just 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation of Friday’s home game against the Creston Panthers, Senior Panther Brayden Schoon received an inbound pass, and made for a layup at the buzzer defeating the HCHS Cyclones 48-46.

Schwieso scores 1,000th point in Friday’s win

Coming into Friday’s home match against the Creston Panthers, Cyclone Senior Aubrey Schwieso needed just four points to reach 1000 in her Cyclone basketball career and was able to achieve it on a 3-point shot in the first quarter, en route to a 73-36 win.

Stephens qualifies for state tournament

HCHS’s Elle Stephens was the lone Cyclone to punch her ticket to the state tournament in Coralville doing so at the regional meet at Red Oak High School.
